Switching Between Open Programs in Windows

When you have multiple programs/windows open and want to switch between them, you have multiple ways to do so. The first way is to select the different program/window from the task bar at the bottom of your screen.

1. To do this, simply click on the program/window that you wish to switch to. As an example, we will switch from a Microsoft Word window to an Internet Explorer window. Please note that the window that you are currently viewing will appear to be "pushed in" compared to the other buttons.

3. You will see that you are now viewing the new window. You may also notice that the "pushed in" box has now changed.

There is a second way to switch between these windows known as "alt-tabbing".

1 – To do this, simply hold down the Alt key and at the same time press down the Tab key. You will notice that a box appears on the screen with icons representing all of the windows you have open.

2 – Each time you press the Tab key while holding down the Alt key, the next icon over will be selected.

3 – Once you let go of both the Alt and the Tab keys, you will switch to whichever window icon is currently selected.
